Well, Joe, exactly one year ago I asked permission to hold a bake sale in the Wal-Mart parking lot to raise money for care packages, and my request was denied. They said since I am not a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit charity, I could not set up there. I have not shopped at Wal-Mart since, and we cancelled our Sam’s Club membership. We now shop at Costco, and don’t miss Wal-Mart at all. I got permission from the county mayor to have my bake sale on the courthouse lawn last year, which went very well, and this year I have been invited to set up my bake sale to raise dough for the troops at the Cheatham County Library’s fall festival on October 29th. I’m sure they help y’all out, since you’re an organized not-for-profit group. I, however, remain on my own. It’s just me and God heading this project.

Hey Kiddo, hard to believe another year has passed already. We are getting geared up to do our Christmas for the Troops this weekend and again next weekend. We get a lot of help from the fine folks at Wallmart and Sams Club. We set up there every year to date. You might want to try it, We put up a table, have boxe’s ready and a Can if some want to help pay for the Postage. I get out there and Hawk my BUTT off. Laura the head honcho runs it and keeps me motavated by dressing up like Betty Boop. We get a lot of fine folks from differeent Bike Clubs that come in to help.

Thank you Tracy for what you do. God has a place for you.

Bonnie just made another donation, of $300. Goal has been met! Every donation has been contributed by veterans – two Vietnam Veterans, and an OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) Veteran. How telling is it that not one dollar came from an average “John Doe” citizen?

WOW…I just received a $500 donation toward Christmas Care Packages from a veteran who chooses to remain anonymous. This puts me within $290 of goal!! Anonymous, if you ever come to Tennessee, you’re going to get a huge hug!!

That is such a sweet gesture. You don’t have to do that! It’s a blessing to be able to send care packages to our troops, and I don’t want to take that blessing from you! I just received notice of the $40 donation you made this afternoon – so awesome! That means I can get cookies sent to some of our deployed “Cookie monsters.” I am also working on a request from one of our Marines in Afghanistan – he wants 2 pink flamingos, 2 bobble-head dolls (one request is for a Jesus bobble-head), a 3′x5′ length of astro turf, and enough homemade brownies to feed a platoon. Since he has never requested anything specific before, I’m going to do my best to fulfill this one! LOL!!
