Well, how about this, y’all… Just as my Troop Support account had reached $4.07, and I was starting to think if I didn’t get some bread orders soon I was never going to get any more care packages sent – I got a $100 check in the mail today from an angel in Hailey, Idaho. Then this evening, Shawn came by to pick up his work boots and tools (Hallelujah, he has a JOB!!! He starts tomorrow!!) and gave me $40 for the troops, from a rebate he got for buying a set of tires.
Now, I’m going to have to be extra frugal, but this will allow me to get some stuff sent off that I already had on hand when I ran out of postage. I have enough for maybe three boxes, and I’m baking some banana nugget cookies for a Marine friend in Kuwait, which will make it four boxes. That takes care of $50 right off the bat, since postage went up to $12.50 per large FRB. I will pretend I don’t have any money left once I mail off those four boxes, until I get paid on the 25th and add my monthly allowance to the balance. Somebody hide my checkbook, and take away my debit card until the 25th…then I can do it! Of course, if anybody wants to buy bread in the meantime, well, I might just go shopping for some more “stuff.” I do need to put together a box for our canine friend, Ms Lucky Lmat, after all…
I’ve got some things to take to the National Guard Armory in Ashland City for care packages for our local troops; if I can remember to put them in the car tomorrow I’ll drop them off after work. I’m going to try to get folks at the office to donate some items; maybe they’ll be more apt to contribute if it’s for our own National Guard members who are in Iraq right now. If not, well, that’s okay too. I’ll still donate whatever I can whenever I can. I’ve found 4 members of the 278th ACR (our guys and gals) on AnySoldier and adopted them already, but I’ll do what I can for the FRG in their effort to provide comfort items for our local Warriors. They’ll be raising funds for special programs for the families, as well, and I’ll help with that too.
Well, shucks, I’m all typed out – told y’all I was speechless at Lynn’s generous donation for our Heroes…LOL!! Thanks for reading my ramblings once again. I’ll type at you later. Any of my troops reading this – you know the routine! Blah blah blah, nag nag nag, STAY SAFE!! Don’t make me have to come over there…
