Seems like every time I turn around, postage is going up. As of January 4th, the cost of a large Flat Rate Box goes up to $12.50, and the small Flat Rate Box goes up to $10.95. This time last year they were $10.95 for the large, and $9.35 for the small. They went up in March, to $11.95 for the large FRB and $10.35 for the small FRB. And now they’re going up again. I know, it is less than $1 a box this time, but it adds up when you send a lot of packages.
I’m currently getting some packages put together so I can get them mailed before the rates go up. I was going to hold off until the Christmas rush is over, but it’s just going to cost more if I wait. I still say there should be a way for supporters and family members to send care packages to the Troops for free…but nobody asked me and I doubt my idea would get any attention even if they did ask me. C’est la vie…

And yet they are still losing their *sses, something rotten in Denmark! You are right about sending packages to troops, it should be free or at least reduced pricing.

That IS the “reduced pricing.” If you’re sending one of the flat rate boxes to a domestic address, say to Mom & Dad in Florida, it’ll cost you $2 more for either size box.

Also, the USPS sends to my home the boxes, labels, customs forms w/envelopes, and a roll of tape large enough to secure a least five Military CARE Kits, FREE OF CHARGE! I find that a pretty fair deal. My first experience (w/o FR kits) cost me $65.40 to ship two parcels. I learned, and was assisted by many, so I consider I’m on the up-side now. However, I do agree with geezer that it should be totally free; I mean, after all!! Come on!!
