Camouflage & Christmas Lights

Posted November 24th, 2009 by Ms Tracy

Rodney Carrington has a new Christmas album out (no, it’s not a comedy album, nor is it his usual “raunchy” style) with a song on it titled “Camouflage and Christmas Lights.” One of my friends at work had told me about the song and said I really needed to hear it, so I Googled “Rodney Carrington,” clicked on his site, and listened to the clip of the song that was available there. What little I heard intrigued me,  so I went to Amazon.com and did a search for the album, “Make It Christmas.” When I found it, I ordered the MP3 version of the album, which downloaded it to my computer.

I listened to the entire song about four times or so, then went back to Rodney’s page and clicked the “Contact” link. That opened up an “e-mail us” box, and I typed a short message asking if I could get Rodney’s permission to send the MP3 of “Camouflage and Christmas Lights” to all the troops I have e-mail addresses for.  I know, it was a long shot, but it never hurts to try, right?

Well, imagine my surprise when I got an e-mail within an hour of sending my request from Paul Michael Goldstein, Rodney Carrington’s personal manager, granting permission to send the MP3 to our Warriors, and stating “If there is anything else we can do, please contact me personally.” Do I even need to say that I immediately sent a short message to every Warrior I have an e-mail address for, with the song attached?  I sent it not only to the ones who are currently deployed, but to the ones who were previously deployed and spent Christmas away from home as well.

Y’all really ought to look this song up and give it a listen. It truly is an awesome song, in honor of our troops who spend holidays far from their loved ones.

    Well, you’re still on a roll, especially with permission to send the song to the Warriors. Good work; will look it up myself. Sorry, but I won’t be comint to TN anytime soon! Thanks for updating the blog and keeping us posted on the effort for the Warriors. Peace — Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, and anyone reading this! We have a great nation, and should be very thankful to our God for the many blessings we enjoy each day.

    Read your entire blog just now from the top to “A Flag Sort etc”, and as usual I can only say you are having a great positive impact on the morale of our troops. Thank you, and I hope to hear from you soon. A Friend

    You’re doing your part as well, my friend. I know you’re sending a lot of good things to our troops, too, and I also know you’ve served our country with honor. Keep on doing what you do, and together we’ll keep morale up for as many troops as possible. Hugs to you {{{{{{Maddog}}}}}}
