In My Own Words

Well, I have $40 left in my Troop Support Account, and there were a few items I wanted to pick up at Sam’s today while we were picking up honey, bread flour, and a few other items we needed at the house. Mainly I wanted a tub of Atomic Fireball jawbreakers; go figure, our guys like hot stuff. Guess it’s hard to doze off on patrol when your tongue is on fire…anyway, when I put them in the cart, Jack said he’d get those so I would have that much more money to put toward postage instead of “stuff.”

A few aisles later, there was a shelf of Himalayan Berry Medley Mix – a 44-oz. container for $2.81. It’s got mixed dried berries, yogurt-covered raisins, and nuts in it. I had to look at the price two or three times to convince myself it actually said two dollars and eighty-one cents, and no matter how I looked at it, that’s exactly what it said…Well, anyone who reads the Soldier requests on AnySoldier.com knows our Warriors like dried fruit, so I put three containers of it in the cart, and Jack said “I’ll get that, too. With the cost of the Atomic Fireballs and this stuff, that will be enough for you to send another package.” So I STILL have $40 in my account, and enough “stuff” to mail at least three packages, which will take care of most of that $40 – Now, how awesome is that?? I love it when things work out like that!

Now, I really have to get up from here – I’ve got bread about to come out of the oven, more to prepare to go in the oven, and four or five loads of laundry that aren’t going to get done by themselves…Not to mention the kitchen is a wreck from all the bread baking.
