I got an e-mail today from Spc. Lizardo-Perez; he got the care package full of snacks and magazines yesterday. The first line of his message said “All I can say is WOW, awesome!” I had enclosed 24 Guardian Angel cards, and he said once he opened the box, he set it on the table in their work area and as he went around handing his battle buds their angel cards, he let them know there was a care package available if anyone wanted anything out of it. He said to “make the story short” when he got back to the table 10 minutes later, the box was empty. I hope he got something out of it before it all disappeared!! Everybody was thanking him for the goodies, and he said he told them to “Thank Ms Tracy; she’s the one who sent it!”
When I e-mailed him back, I reminded him that if he or any of his group have any special requests for snacks, hygiene gear, or whatever they can’t be shy. They need to speak up so I can be sure they’re getting things they like, want, and need rather than me just guessing and putting anything in the box. Most of our Warriors have a hard time being specific; they don’t want to sound “picky” or ungrateful. I haven’t figured out how to convince them that it makes MY job easier if they’ll just speak up and tell me what they’d like to receive. When they say “anything,” I tell them there’s no telling what they’ll find in the next package…LOL!
A picture was attached to the e-mail so I could “see the guys that made the whole box of goodies disappear in no time,” so of course, that will be going up on my Wall of Fame. Here for y’all to enjoy as well, is a picture of SPC Lizardo-Perez’s group, “Avengers.” I’m already planning their next package…
