I’ve got two packages ready to go to the post office this afternoon. I packed a large Flat Rate Box full of snacks for our sniper group in Afghanistan, and a small Flat Rate Box full of snacks for one of our troops in Iraq. Before I pick up Shawn’s kids on the way home, I’m going to go to Wal-Mart or Dollar General Market and buy as many baby wipes as $30 will get. That will leave enough in the Troop Support account to mail one more large FRB, so I can send the baby wipes to our snipers, who have no shower facilities. Then my care package effort will be done until next payday unless some kind soul sees fit to make a donation on my site. I get paid the 25th of each month, and I get to keep $40 for myself, which I put in the Troop Support account and stretch as far as I can.
Our sniper group still need twin sheet sets for their mattresses, and a solar camp shower, which I’m going to price at several different places. Sportsman’s Guide usually has those, and for a pretty decent price. That will give me a ballpark estimate of how much it’s going to cost to get these guys a way to bathe besides with baby wipes. Chuck says “After awhile you can’t smell yourself, but everybody else STINKS!” I can only imagine.
