Well, the site is coming right along

A couple of Warriors we supported during their deployments have visited and signed the guest book, and one who is currently in the sandbox signed as well. One of the two who are currently home, SPC Kumpf, also left a comment on the comment page. Kumpf is wanting to get back in the fight…guess when he goes, I’ll have to put him back on the worry list.

My friend Montana Joe (aka MyJoe) ;-) posted my link on the forum at usmilvets.org, and some folks from over there have come by to check out the site. Thanks, MyJoe – the more visitors the merrier! There’s a good bunch of folks at usmilvets, and I’m happy to have them drop in any time. (Did I mention Joe is a Vietnam Veteran and a troop supporter?) Larry Thompson and Bruce “Bergy” Bergren are also Veterans who have signed my guest book – thanks guys. I salute you and all our Veterans. Y’all are some of my best cheerleaders, you know.

I received a $50 donation via PayPal Sunday morning, and that was very timely. I was getting ready to go to Sam’s Club and replenish my “soldier stash” of goodies, and knowing I had that extra fifty for postage allowed me to buy a few more goodies than I would have otherwise. I have sent off two boxes from Sunday’s purchases, one yesterday and one today. I was going to pack another one tonight to mail tomorrow but I was needed to babysit for the grandbabies while Shawn and Jini went to the church to pick out the decorations for their wedding, so I didn’t get a package put together after all. It’s a time-consuming project from constructing the box and taping the bottom securely, deciding what is going to go into the box based on whose turn it is to get a care package, getting everything packed securely so nothing is rattling around loose, writing a note to include inside the box, taping the top securely, taping all the corners and edges (y’all remember the Samsonite commercial where the gorilla was trying to destroy the suitcase? I think he retired and works for the military postal service…:-P ), addressing the box, and filling out the customs form ~ well, let’s just say it takes more than a couple of minutes and leave it at that.

I was preparing a package last night for a Soldier I have an e-mail address for, so I e-mailed to ask a few questions. Do you have access to a microwave? A freezer? Any allergies I should be made aware of? When he e-mailed back, he stated that they don’t have a freezer, they do have a microwave, and the only one with an allergy is himself – he’s allergic to bee stings. Therefore, I promised I won’t send any freezer pops, and I will do my best not to put any bees in his care packages. I got back a short e-mail that said, simply, “LMFAO!” I love it when I can make a Warrior laugh.

It’s way past my bedtime, so I’m going to sign off for now. I will try to post again tomorrow if I get a chance. Y’all have a blessed evening, and stop by any time! Feel free to ask questions, make suggestions, or just comment on what you’ve read on my blog.
